If my driving record isn't perfect, can I still rent on Hotwire?

In order to book a rental car on Hotwire, your driving record must be clean. At the rental counter, drivers may be subject to an electronic DMV check from the state that issued the driver's license. The driver may also be asked to sign a statement attesting to the criteria listed below:
  • The driver has a valid license that is not currently suspended, expired, revoked, cancelled or surrendered.
  • The driver has not, within the last 36 months, had one or more convictions for speeding or reckless driving.
  • The driver has not, within the last 36 months, had one or more convictions for driving under the influence (DUI), driving while intoxicated (DWI) or driving while alcohol impaired (DWAI).
  • The driver has not, within the last 36 months, failed to report or leave the scene of an accident.
  • The driver has never been in possession of a stolen vehicle or used a vehicle in a crime.
  • The driver has not, within the last 24 month, had three or more convictions for moving violations (excluding seat belt violations but including speeding).
